You don’t have a networking problem
March 2026 | 4min read

Most people think they need to get better at networking.

Maybe more events, conversations or connections.

This should do the trick right?

NOPE.

That’s not the problem.

You don’t have a networking problem. You have a strategy problem.

I recently recorded a ConquerCast episode with Stacy Brooks, and after it ended, three things became very clear to me. If you get these right, your entire approach to networking, business development and even career growth changes.

👉 I’M READY TO LISTEN RIGHT NOW: You don’t have a networking problem.

1) NETWORKING IS A STRATEGIC SPORT

If you’re showing up to events just to “see what happens”… you’re already behind.

High performers don’t leave it to chance. They walk in with intention:

  • Who do I want to meet?
  • What am I trying to learn?
  • Where is the opportunity to build something meaningful?

Same room. Different results. All because of strategy!

👉 This is what strategic networking actually looks like.

2) YOUR REFERRALS ARE YOUR REPUTATION

Every time you introduce someone… you’re putting your name on the line.

Most people treat referrals casually. “Hey, you should connect with this person.”

But strong leaders think differently. They ask:

  • Is this actually a good fit?
  • Do I trust this person to represent me well?
  • Would I feel confident sending my toughest client to them?

Keep in mind, referrals aren’t transactions. They’re extensions of your brand.

(Personal note: you should really refer me .. I’m a great referral partner 😀)

3) STOP COLLECTING CONTACTS. START BUILDING LEVERAGE

A big network doesn’t mean a strong network.

You don’t need 50 weak connections. You need a few strong ones. (STRONG LIKE BULL … GRUNT!)

The kind where:

  • there’s trust
  • there’s consistency
  • there’s mutual value

One strong relationship will outperform a room full of surface-level conversations.

👉 This is how you build a high-value network!

At Conquer Leadership, we don’t do surface-level nothin’!

REMEMBER..

Most people are busy networking, but they’re not actually building anything.

No strategy, depth or follow-through. Just activity.

And activity doesn’t equal progress.

Listen to this episode of ConquerCast through this lens, you’ll hear it differently.

It’s not just a conversation about networking. It’s a conversation about:

  • how you build trust
  • how you create opportunities
  • and how you position yourself for growth

If you’re ready to move from random networking, to intentional growth, you can’t afford to miss this one: You don’t have a networking problem.

Conquer your strategic networking
