What is your purpose?

Today, I’m diving into a topic that really excites me: discovering your purpose.

Last week, I shared with you that I had the incredible pleasure of facilitating a mission, vision, and values workshop for a group of exceptional healthcare professionals. The energy and enthusiasm in the room were absolutely electric.

If you missed it, you can catch up on last week’s lesson: “A Culture of Purpose.” It’s a must-read for anyone looking to cultivate a meaningful and purpose-driven environment.

Now you

Let’s take a moment to be introspective.

We often talk about the importance of organizations having a defined mission, vision, and values, but what about you. How important is it for YOU to have a clear sense of purpose?

Think about it. Having a defined mission, vision, or set of values can be the catalyst that pushes you forward with intention and awareness. It’s the difference between simply going through the motions and actively designing your life.

Here are three questions to help you uncover your purpose:

1. What are you currently known for?

Take a moment to reflect on how others perceive you. What are your strengths, passions, and unique qualities that people recognize and appreciate?

2. What do you want to be known for?

Imagine the impact you want to make on the world, the legacy you wish to leave behind. Give yourself permission to dream big as if fear and failure didn’t exist.

3. How do you close that gap?

Now comes the exciting part—charting the course towards your purpose. Recognize that there will always be a gap between where you are now and where you want to be. Consider the steps, actions, and mindset shifts required to bridge that gap. And simply ask yourself “What’s one thing you can start doing that is the catalyst for all other steps?”

Remember, identifying your purpose is a continuous process. It’s about progress, not pace or perfection.

I invite you to share your answers and thoughts. Don’t be shy—I’m here to support and challenge you in closing that gap, so that you can CONQUER your potential!

In the words of Helen Keller, “Your success and happiness lie in you.”
