What if you can’t find the motivation to start? What if you’re stuck, knowing exactly what needs to be done but can’t seem to take action?
Use the dark side.
This is a powerful mindset shift I explored in a recent coaching session with a small business owner looking to scale operations and double revenue.
When he felt unmotivated, overwhelmed, or just didn’t care anymore, my recommendation was simple – USE IT!
Leverage that frustration or the desire to prove someone wrong as a TEMPORARY tool to break through mental blocks and get things done.
⚠ Warning: Staying in this mindset too long isn’t mentally healthy – but when used strategically, it can light a fire under you and push you into action.
💡 Keep in mind: High-performing leaders and entrepreneurs aren’t obsessed with external validation, but when used correctly, this strategy can help you take the next step.
Use the dark side to fuel your productivity and growth.
Why did you start?
Another powerful way to boost consistency is to remind yourself why you started in the first place.
📌 Example: Let’s say you have a big presentation but can’t find the motivation to prepare and deliver your best performance.
Instead of procrastinating, think about what’s at stake:
✅ More funding for a community project
✅ Approval for a passion project you’ve been waiting years to launch
✅ A potential promotion that could change your career trajectory
💡 Your “why” is a powerful driver of success. When you reconnect with the end in mind, staying consistent becomes easier.
Trick your mind
But what if even that doesn’t work? What if you still feel stuck?
Here’s where you can use psychological tricks to boost self-discipline and motivation.
🧠 The mind is incredibly powerful. Sometimes, the best way to break through procrastination and self-doubt is to use a little fear.
📌 Example: If you don’t start working out now, you risk serious health issues down the road. That thought alone can be enough to push you into action.
⚠ This isn’t about living in fear – it’s about using your mind’s natural tendencies to your advantage.
When you reframe your thoughts strategically, you can overcome resistance, build momentum, and accomplish even your biggest goals.
