Time travel and productivity

For those of us in Canada, it’s a holiday weekend – Victoria Day!

As you spend time with your family, friends and love ones remember to pay attention to your intention. Where there’s intention, there’s activity. And enough activity will always produce results.

On a similar note, if you don’t plan your time, someone else will help you waste it. Protect your schedule. Your time is too valuable!

Time audit

Speaking of intention and time, ever conducted a time audit?

The idea is to track where you spend your time over, let’s say, over a week or two. Identify categories that take up most of your schedule and every 30-60min, take a 30 second break to track the categories you’re spending your time on.

Once you’re tracked for a week or two, now you have data to analyze. Look for patterns and categories you can combine or remove. Or simply let this be an exercise to help you become more aware of how you spend your time.

From here, identify where/how you can be more efficient, break down larger projects, re-allocate time, etc.

How about having your team conduct time audits?

Not necessarily for you to keep an eye on their time … that’s a bit too Big Brother’ish … 🤨 and you won’t win any points with your team doing that. But rather for your team to better understand how they use their time. They might find that they have more time on their hands than they initially thought.

I mean who wouldn’t want more time? The other logical option to create more time of course is time travel. While that’s not possible … yet … time audits are. 😏

So give it a shot and let me know how it works out. If there’s any way I can add value with this exercise, whether from an accountability perspective or a step-by-step plan of how to conduct your time audit, I’m here. Just yell. No don’t do that! A simple reply to this email will do the trick. 😜
