Stop talking. Start doing.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re spinning your wheels on something important (or because you drive a FORD and all you can ever do is spin your wheels and not go anywhere 😁) … I’m sharing insights that might just help you get unstuck.

I’ve been catching up with people I’ve coached before or worked with in PROJECT CONQUER MASTERMIND. So good to hear about the progress they’ve been making, because of the action they’ve been taking.

Inch by inch.

I’ve also been doing short laser coaching sessions to tackle one specific challenge or goal and map out the next steps. The kind of stuff that can feel overwhelming when you’re trying to figure it out on your own.

It’s always great to hear how much these sessions make a difference!

Performance Coaching

At the same time, I’ve been conducting performance coaching sessions with leaders from a non-profit, and it struck me how many of the challenges they face feel universal. These include building confidence in tough conversations, communicating effectively across teams, and juggling competing priorities.

I’m sharing some of the action items these individuals identified. Whether you’re pursuing personal excellence or sharpening your leadership skills, you might find something here to help you move forward.

Performance Coaching 1: How do I ask for feedback/areas of improvement without appearing vulnerable?

–> Insights: Understand the difference between vulnerability and vulnerable leadership.

–> Action: When seeking feedback, use the WIN Method (What went Well/What did I do Well? What can be Improved/What can I Improve? What to do differently Next time/What can I do differently Next time?

Performance Coaching 2: What can I do to increase my confidence when networking with others?

–> Insight: Practice networking in a more intentional way, focusing on the other person.

–> Action: Create a list of networking questions and review before networking events. Adapt questions as needed.

–> Action: Develop a Confidence Scale with specific criteria. Assess yourself periodically to identify any changes.

Performance Coaching 3: How can I manage difficult conversations with my team better, while being mindful of my emotions and being empathetic?

–> Insight: Finding the right balance between being a friend and a leader, while being direct when necessary is integral in creating a psychologically safe work culture.

–> Action: Practice pausing after stating the impact of team members’ actions/inactions in difficult conversations.

–Action: Develop an “alter ego” or mental cue to help shift into a more direct communication mode for challenging discussions.

💥 Which set of Insights/Actions make the most sense for you to test? How would you customize this approach?

If you’re still wondering whether coaching can work for you. The short answer is HELL YEAH! Whether its me, or someone else, the right coach can help you conquer your potential!

I would prefer that it’s me… 😁. If you’re ready to change the trajectory of your career and life, let’s talk!
