Preparation won’t help… if you wait until the last minute!
If opportunity knocks and you’re just getting prepared at that point – you’re already too late!
Preparation begins way before opportunity shows up. So that when it DOES knock, you don’t just open the door .. You break through it!
This is why the best leaders invest in leadership development training, workplace communication skills, and team engagement strategies WAAAYYYY before they think they actually need it!

Communication prep
💡 Example: I was recently facilitating the Leadership Game for a municipal government team.
The topic of communication in leadership came up .. specifically tonality. Because I’d prepared for this waaaayyy before and for other leadership development experiences and coaching sessions, it’s ingrained in me.
I leaned on research and shared with absolute certainty that communication happens in three ways:
✅ Verbal communication (words) – 7%
✅ Vocal (tone, pace, pitch) – 38%
✅ Non-verbal (body language, presence) – 55%
Over 90% of communication isn’t about the words.
This is why leaders who practice effective communication in the workplace stand out. They inspire trust, reduce conflict and lead with clarity.
Now you
Think about marathon training. You don’t just start the week before the race. You typically put in the reps in advance so that you can perform when it counts, on race day!
Leadership is the same. You don’t build trust the day a crisis hits. Leaders who wait until then lose their teams. Build credibility and consistency today, so when the “stuff” hits the fan, your people already know you’ve got them.
👉 If the opportunity you’ve been waiting for showed up tomorrow .. would you be ready?
If the answer’s NO, what’s one skill, habit, or mindset you can start building today to close that gap?
Next list three small actions you can start this week to be ready for it. Calendarize it and execute!
💥 The right leadership development, team engagement and 1:1 coaching can directly impact your breakthrough.
