It was November 2021 – a lifetime ago right? 😜
I had finished doing a leadership training for a non-profit in the healthcare field. And while I was told the session was valuable, my contact person also mentioned that it wasn’t quite what they were expecting or hoping for.
And that’s fair.
I took that to heart … absorbed the cost of that training. Thank god for my coach. Because of some direct conversations with him, I understood that perhaps it was just a matter of “misalignment.”
My ultimate goal is to add value in every leadership training or one-on-one coaching sessions/relationship. And when that doesn’t happen, I take it to heart.
I share all this with you to honour our relationship … and being transparent.
Fast forward
Earlier this month, I had the absolutely pleasure of speaking with a tech company in the Toronto area. We unpacked the single-most important building block of leadership development. I was also able to closely tie in their leadership philosophies and internal terminology they regularly use.
The immediate feedback right after the session was that everything resonated extremely well with the group. And the icing on the cake .. actually I’m not big on cake so … the final topping on my protein shake … “Parm, it’s like you’ve been working here this whole time.” …FOR THE WIN!
You see, being misaligned with the healthcare organization, allowed me to reflect and correct. Being misaligned provided an opportunity for me to be even more focused on questions I need to ask when having initial conversations when speaking with someone new.
And because of this whole process … ALIGNMENT!

Fail, reflect, correct, get better.

We all fail and get knocked down. ‘Pobody’s nerfect.’ Don’t compare someone’s highlight real to your behind the scenes. Everyone’s ‘behind the scenes’ is messy!

No matter what level you’re at … what business you’re in … what life stage you’re at – every single person messes up, has insecurities, deals with personal obstacles or has confidence issues.
