Meet Ange and Jamaal

In this week’s lesson:

  • Meet Ange and Jamal
  • More micro lessons from all over

Meet Ange and Jamaal

I’d like to introduce you to Ange and Jamaal. And as you can see from the pic, Jamaal is one handsome devil 😜. His internet isn’t always the best so video is usually off.

Ange is a freelance writer, operating her own practice, Ange Writes. Jamaal is the Chief Leader Grower at the Leadership Growth & Research Center. Both were in the previous cohort of the PROJECT CONQUER mastermind group which ended a couple of weeks ago. You see, Ange and Jamaal live in two different countries and would have never met if it wasn’t for them saying YES to being in PROJECT CONQUER.

Because everyone in the group was open to sharing, adding value, learning from each other and being vulnerable, it opened the airwaves for Ange and Jamaal to connect outside of the group. And now Ange is writing for Jamaal. In fact, here’s one article –> We’ve Been F%!@ing Up Leadership.

Even though we’re all the same age, can’t help but feel that “proud pappa” vibe. 😁

That’s what PROJECT CONQUER can do for your network. No surface level connections. But rather, an opportunity to learn and grow with others and develop deep lasting friendships and partnerships.

Reply back if you have questions or you can check out more info about the next cohort. Spaces are limited and the application process includes a short interview/conversation prior to enrolling. Learn more: PROJECT CONQUER.

More micro lessons from all over

Last week I tried a little something something that’s different and some of you replied back with positive feedback. In fact, my buddy Joseph added in his interpretations to last week’s micro lessons. Here they are:

  1. Identify what you do well and do it more (JOSEPH SAYS: Stay in your strength zone)
  2. Going above and beyond is priceless (JOSEPH SAYS: Anything worth doing is worth doing better)
  3. There’s power in “being in the trenches” with your people, your team. Be “a part” not “apart.” (JOSEPH SAYS: Good leaders don’t spend most of their time on top)
  4. Staff and clients/customers/end-users MUST be the top priority. That’s how you hardwire excellence. (JOSEPH SAYS: To see how the leader is doing look at his people)
  5. What gets tolerated gets accepted which then becomes standard practice. (JOSEPH SAYS: The things you practice become habit)

With the same spirit – bit-sized insights, here are some more that I’ve pulled from books, emails, newsletters, podcasts and videos I’ve been recently going through:

  1. Not investing in leadership development is the equivalent of organizational malpractice.
  2. Making a decision vs. taking action are two different things.
  3. Spotlight the performers and their work. This will raise the collective bar.
  4. Common sense is uncommonly practiced.
  5. Your growth is your responsibility. Making an effort to bring others along is also your responsibility. We are responsible to each other not necessary for each other.
  6. You cannot microwave mastery. It has to be oven-baked.
  7. Leaders are teachers.
  8. Your triggers are your responsibility.
  9. Managing your emotions is your super power.
  10. Leadership must evolve partly because work expectations have evolved.
  11. When the student is ready, the teacher emerges.

💥 Which one hits home? There’s gotta be at least one.

And until next time, CONQUER your potential!
