‘In Sync’ with Caledon

‘In Sync’ with Caledon

This is what I had proposed when engaging with Town of Caledon’s Recreation & Culture team again.

In our first session, we focused on values-based leadership. Specifically:

  • Values exploration
  • Leadership & Influence

Coming out of this, I had presented a Playbook that captured insights/action items groups had shared. This is not a high-level strategy document. This Playbook is more than a guide; it’s a compass pointing towards a future where leadership, team building and team culture is not just effective but KICK-ASS AMAZING! It’s the beginning of a transformative journey. (YEAH, it’s that big of a deal 😏).

Our most recent experience was to align guiding principles from their strategic plan with insights/action items from the Playbook.

The final result?

Playbook 2.0 – a streamlined group of insights/action items that the team identified to help them further work towards their guiding principles.

Here’s how we did it:

  • Hire me – most important – HELLO??? 😁
  • Re-introduce Strat Plan & Playbook
  • Alignment exercise to identify the top insights/action items
  • Temporary working group to validate top insights/action items
  • Playbook v2.0 presented

Everyone in the session was fully engaged to the point where I had to use my pro wrestler-inspired BIG BOY voice to get their attention at times. The support and leadership from the temporary working group to help guide and validate this entire experience was fantastic!

I’m exited to see how culture evolves with this team. And as always, it’s an absolute pleasure and privilege to do what I do.

Biggest lesson learned: Co-design & co-creation = increased buy-in. Involving the team in this process is likely to lead to increased buy-in and more effective outcomes.

When people are part of the process, they’re more invested in achieving results. Meet people where they’re at – bring them along the journey.

Co-design/co-creation also builds a culture of inclusivity and accountability.

A huge shout out to this team for putting in the work. An even huger (not a real word) shoutout to the leaders of this team for having the courage and accountability to take this step!

CONQUER YOUR POTENTIAL!
