He had me at ‘stage time’

What a great turnout at the ConnectingGTA holiday gala in December 2022. And a big shoutout to the group’s fearless leader, Suresh Kumar, for an outstanding evening.

A few months ago when Suresh and I met about how we can collaborate, he asked if I’d up be up for some stage time – to talk at the annual gala and share some personal and professional leadership strategies.

Oh mama – he had me at ‘stage time’ 😁.

Everyone got to hear about how new year’s resolutions don’t work – they’re garbage.

Instead, to focus on laying a foundation for a powerful and productive 2023.

How?

By implementing the Law of the Environment and the Law of the Rubber Band – two concepts from John Maxwell’s “15 Laws of Growth” which we covered in PROJECT CONQUER MASTERMIND.

Practical ways were shared to apply each of these concepts. In other words, everyone got homework 😁.

AND … it was an honour to announce a collaboration between Conquer Leadership and ConnectingGTA, where we will offer coaching conversations to all CGTA members at NO COST!

To top of off – got to meet NHL legend Marcel Dionne. Damn he’s still got some fire in him!

Great night connecting with old friends and making some new ones. Powerful and productive conversations!

Insight and application

This gala took place on the night of the big snow storm in December which meant a stressful drive for many getting to the venue. So when I mentioned to the group they had homework, I thought I’d be booed off stage. Luckily not. 😁.

Here are some ways you can take action on both laws.

Law of Environment:

This is all about identifying what’s in your environment – and how you can be more intentional about including the things that serve you, add value to you, and those elements that don’t.

The most important thing in your environment are the people you surround yourself with.

Here’s the homework:

List out five people who inspire you, give you energy, believe in you, more successful than you, doing more than you. Ask yourself “How can I spend more time with each of these people?”

Law of the Rubber band:

Life begins at the end of our comfort zone. This law is about the tension between where you are now, and where you would like to be.

Here’s the homework:

Write out these categories, or other categories that are important in your life: Faith, Family, Finances, Fitness, Fun, Work, Business. Identify at least one thing you can do to stretch/grow in each of those categories.

Once that’s clear, put it in your calendar or add it to your to-do list. It doesn’t count unless it’s in your calendar or on your to do list.

I’m curious to know what resonates, or other ways you can take action on these concepts.

CONQUER YOUR POTENTIAL!
